Spiritual Forces, Synchronicities And Love

Unlike many gyms that play mind-numbing beats such as drum & base or house music, when I’m on shift, it’s eighties all the way!

I jokingly commented to Lyn, one of our members, how I’d like “There Must Be an Angel,” by the Eurythmics, to be played at my funeral.

Appropriate? Maybe not, but hey, it’s my favourite song!

Strangely enough, this got us talking about the afterlife…

Lyn told me of her father’s death and how, just after his passing, she visited his beloved roses patch with her sister and mother.

As they approached the roses, they all noticed hundreds of brown butterflies hovering twelves inches above the ground.

It was such a surreal moment for Lyn, she believed it was her dad.

Since then, Lyn has been on trips all over the world and wherever she goes, a brown butterfly lands on her, or significantly close to her. Many of her holiday snaps have butterflies in them!

Is this Lyn’s dad saying “hi kid, it’s Dad! You are okay. I’m with you?” or is it just a random coincidence?

Can a love so strong survive despite a physical passing?

I believe so, but even it can’t, it’s funny how becoming more attuned to nature can help us find inner peace…

Not long after her mother had passed, Lyn had a second experience.

A robin came into her garden and landed right next to her, so close she could have touched it.

When she moved around, it wasn’t scared, and it didn’t fly away.

Then, on another occasion, the robin came right up to Lyn again! Even when her partner approached, all six foot of him with his booming voice and rustic bike leathers, it never budged or flew away.

This second experience made Lyn believe that her mom, like her dad, arrived to let her know that she was okay, and she would always be with her.

I have been reading about synchronicities recently – things that happen which can either be judged as random, or meaningful coincidences.

I believe that we live in a universe which is organised. A universe that is controlled by something greater than our understanding allows.

You may call this God, Source, Tao or The Force.

Whatever you want to call it, it’s always flowing, and we are part of it. It’s a never-ending plan.

I believe this because, just like Lyn, I always feel that someone or something is looking out for me.

Things always turn out for the best and I always end-up okay.

I have read and heard this Wayne Dyer quote many times…

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience but spiritual beings having a human experience.

We are so wrapped up in the physical elements of life that we don’t take time to think about the non-physical (what little we can comprehend of it).

Essentially, we are all energy. The entire universe is energy and our natural state of being is pure love; not our job, not our bank balance, not our flash car, just pure love.

The destruction of our physical vessel is just part of our great adventure of never-ending consciousness.

There are energies and forces in the universe which are at play, moving the pieces, flowing freely.

We cannot detect these forces with modern science. Maybe, someday, we will find a way, but in my own weird way I hope that we don’t.

I like to think that there is still some magic left in this world that will help us break through our materially focused, “to-do list” lives.

Whether or not my faith in spiritual forces is founded, just like Lyn’s butterflies and robin, it guides me down a calmer, happier and more accepting path.

Listen to your heart and let your inner guiding voice point you in the right direction!
