Just be kind
This is the sum total of every scripture, of every bible, of every holy book – Just be kind.
Every bliss I ever felt – the ones that lasted: the ones that stayed with me, the moments that counted… they all came from me being kind to others, others being kind to me, or simply witnessing kindness in action, especially when the kindness was proffered at a time of pain or fear or vulnerability.
I’m not talking about the hand that helps the sick and the lame and the lonely and then opens its palm for the coin of commerce or reward or public acknowledgement.
I am not talking about the heart that will not engage in human action or interaction or transaction without the guarantee of return.
I am talking about an interchange of energy that is so pure and so spontaneous and so aligned and natural that the exchange itself is the only reward you will ever need.
I don’t care what your business is, or your line of work, or your philosophy on life.
Wherever you are, whoever you are, whatever you are, you can still make kindness your gold-standard.
If you have to lie, or cheat, or coerce, or bribe, or exert pressure, or omit facts or employ subterfuge; if you have to do anything that threatens the commandment of your own heart you have already caused harm, you have already delivered a wounding unkindness.
Kindness…is its own place I am certain, and it can make a holy heaven out of any hell.
Be kind.
